My rating is 3.5 stars! This was a really good wrap up to the mystery of Mercy, I just needed more suspense and tension. Mercy has a 4.42 star rating on Goodreads. I also think Atlee let’s somebody off way too easily in the final scenes. I however felt like some of the plot was a bit rushed, and the antagonist was just a bit over the top for me! Perhaps the suspense and tension was missing a bit for me in this one. Mercy was an engaging and definitely also an entertaining, action-packed read. Also, finally finding out exactly what happened to Mercy brings us closure, as we’ve been wondering through 4 books and over 1000 pages! I really enjoyed that we had the POV of both sister’s in this book, as their paths hopefully lead to each other. Leading up to this book, she discovers that her sister, Mercy, could actually be alive and she discovers secrets about her parents, so her whole world is kind of thrown upside down! She’ll however stop at nothing to find out what happened to her sister.Ītlee is lucky to have an amazing assistant, Carol Blum, as well as the resources of a rich benefactor…who also plays an important part in her life. Atlee, as I mentioned in my previous review, is one of those indestructible good gals, but she isn’t flawless. The protagonist of the series is Atlee Pine. When the truth is finally revealed, Atlee Pine will face the greatest danger yet, and it may well cost her everything. Atlee has no idea if her sister is still alive, and if so, how she has been surviving all this time. Mercy left at least one dead body behind before fleeing her captors years before. Though Atlee is tantalizingly close to her family at last, the final leg of her long road to Mercy will be the most treacherous yet. Now, after a perilous investigation that nearly proved fatal, Atlee has finally discovered not only the reason behind her parents’ abandonment and Mercy’s kidnapping, but also the most promising breakthrough yet: proof that Mercy survived her abduction and then escaped her captors many years ago. I swear books, plants and my family are the only thing that kept me going during this pandemic time we are living in.
